This young man and his dad bagged these ducks in central North Dakota. Brett had recently passed his hunter safety course. He was itching to try out his new 20 gauge pump. The edge of a friends corn stubble field seemed to be the ticket. The day before the pair had scouted, watching the flights of mallards and singled out their spot. Setting up a decoy pattern near a slough so that the morning sun and any breeze would be at their backs. They were in shooting position by 6:30 AM. It wasn't long before the action was fast and furious. Brett expertly folded two drake mallards that morning. When asked what he liked about the hunt Brett said, "getting up early, listening to the ducks and then blasting them with my new gun". We at American Outdoor Trails and Tails thank Brett and especially his Dad Brain for the photo and information. This takes us all back to those wonderful days of youth when our first days of hunting were indelibly imprinted upon our conscious minds so that we could relive those days thousands of times as we grow older.
